The Building and Grounds Department at Bard College is seeking a full-time Horticulture Manager to oversee the maintenance of the campus landscape. A well-maintained campus landscape is vital to student recruitment and retention, day-to-day operations and community relations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Direct campus-wide horticultural design, landscape planning, installation, and maintenance
- Manage tree work, landscaping in formal and informal garden beds, greenhouses, leaf and snow removal, outdoor event preparation and plant health care.
- Maintain maintenance & operations budget.
- Supervise approximately six union horticulture staff, 24 student workers and 3 volunteers.
- Manage all aspects of the historic landscape, maintenance, and seasonal exhibits at Montgomery Place National Historic Site
- Hire and oversee subcontractors and coordinate with other trade managers and professionals on new construction and maintenance
- Ability to work from blueprints, plans, and sketches
- Maintain plant records & purchase orders for the acquisition and the inventory of materials
- Supervise the use and maintenance of trade equipment and vehicle condition
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of professional landscape management
- College degree/certificate in related field
- Ability to work from blueprints, plans and sketches
- Strong communication skills and proven leadership ability

Salary Range: $62,400 - $75,000
This salary range reflects the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting. Salary decisions are dependent on several factors including but not limited to market and organizational considerations, experience, and qualifications of a selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
