Position Summary
The HR Generalist provides broad administrative and operational support across the Human Resources department, with responsibility for employee records, HRIS data integrity, onboarding documentation, compliance documentation, employee service, payroll and benefits assistance, and general HR operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
HR Operations and Administrative Support
- Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support to the Human Resources department.
- Respond to routine employee questions and direct employees to appropriate HR resources.
- Support department workflows, calendars, checklists, recurring deadlines, and HR projects.
- Prepare correspondence, forms, reports, and documentation as assigned.
- Assist with HR communications, employee notices, newsletters, and department updates.
- Support employee engagement activities, recognition efforts, HR events, and culture-related initiatives.
- Maintain organized HR records and assist with improving HR processes and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support HR operations.
HRIS, Records, and Employee File Maintenance
- Maintain human resource records, including both paper and electronic employee files.
- Upload personnel forms and employment documents into the HRIS system.
- Enter and update employee data, including new hires, transfers, terminations, pay changes, job classification changes, and other employment updates.
- Prepare and maintain new employee files, termination files, and other personnel documentation.
- Conduct routine audits of HRIS and employee records for accuracy and completeness.
- Support regulatory compliance and reduce litigation risk through accurate and timely documentation.
- Ensure personnel records are organized, current, confidential, and maintained according to HR standards.
- Assist with secure retention, retrieval, and disposal of HR records in accordance with policy.
3. Onboarding and New Hire Documentation Support
- Support the onboarding process for new employees, including preparation, tracking, and completion of required documentation.
- Ensure all required new employee paperwork is submitted to HR and uploaded into the HRIS system.
- Assist with onboarding checklists, new hire forms, payroll forms, benefit forms, tax forms, and direct deposit documentation.
- Maintain I-9 compliance documentation and assist with completion, tracking, and retention of I-9 forms.
- Support background check, drug screening, and reference check documentation processes.
- Assist with new employee orientation logistics and preparation of orientation materials.
- Coordinate with the HR Business Partner, HR Generalist/Payroll Specialist, hiring managers, and HR Director to assist with various HR initiatives and projects
- Help ensure new employees understand key HR processes, deadlines, required forms, and available resources.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- At least one year of human resource management experience preferred.
- SHRM-CP a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
