- Full time, secondment opportunity or fixed term for 2 years offering a base salary of $146,197 - $154,260 + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
ARIAM Hub is an ARC Industrial Transformation Research Hub which brings together researchers from the University of Sydney, Queensland University of Technology and the Australian National University as well as 11 of Australia's most innovative technology companies. Launched in 2023, the Hub is developing new capabilities for intelligent robotic systems for inspection, monitoring, and maintenance of critical assets and infrastructure. The remaining two years will focus on project performance, milestone delivery, researcher career development and establishing a lasting legacy for the Hub. The Hub also runs (or co-organises) many activities including workshops, outreach events, and the Australian School of Robotic Systems (AuSRoS).
We are seeking a Hub Manager who will:
- support the Director and leadership team in providing effective management of the Hub's activities in five key areas: research, research training, industry partner liaison, external engagement, and outreach
- supervise operational and admin staff in the Hub's operations team based at University of Sydney and provide support to a virtual team spread across the Hub's other nodes at the Queensland University of Technology and the Australian National University
- liaise regularly with industry partners and assist with onboarding new nodes and partners to the Hub as required
- work closely with the Hub advisory board to report on and assist with the delivery of the Hub's strategy
- oversee the Hub's operational budget and manage finances across all nodes, track key performance indicators, and prepare reports as required for management groups, external funding bodies, and governance committees.
Drawing on your expertise in research, University operations or business, in this role you will play an active role in liaising with key stakeholders in industry, government, and academia; in managing the team's researchers, partners, and students; in research planning, research commercialization, researcher development, and helping to achieve the goals of the Hub while ensuring compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory controls, and a safe working environment for all staff.

- postgraduate qualifications and/or equivalent experience in management and administration in a multi-institutional research environment or similar
- financial management experience and literacy with experience managing budgets and controlling income and expenditure for a project
- outstanding communication skills and demonstrated capacity to liaise at the highest levels across industry, government, and university sectors
- strong strategic thinking skills together with effective leadership and people management skills
- proven management experience at a senior level, with capacity to adapt to changing circumstances and environments
- the ability to advise on effective governance for a multi-institutional research collaboration
- a broad understanding of university, industry and government frameworks influencing the Australian research context
- a genuine enthusiasm and interest in Science and Technology research, especially in robotics
