Human Resources Assistant
Position Summary
Under general supervision, provides a variety of administrative services for the University in support of the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Process paperwork for new employees, including I-9 compliance
- Computer entry and file maintenance
- Assist with NEOGOV database, including but not limited to routing applications
- Process and manage workers' compensation program and OSHA reporting requirements
- Welcome and provide guidance to employees and the public regarding personnel matters, including the interpretation of general HR policies and procedures
- Assist with new employee orientation for customers
- Update and maintain HR Portal forms
- Responsible for the maintenance of confidential personnel files
- Maintain computer employee data information
- Answer telephones and provide accurate information to callers
- Conduct employment verifications
- Assist with various personnel projects, including but not limited to leave administration and timesheets
- Establish and maintain various reports and documents to provide current personnel information
- Responsible for the maintenance of HR archived files
- May supervise and train student employees
- Regular and predictable attendance is required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Job Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent certificate, along with a minimum of two years of related experience, is required. Experience in higher education, human resources, or a related field is preferred.
