Reporting to the Human Resources Director at Queensborough Community College, the Human Resources Coordinator for Adjunct Services performs functions related to employment, on-boarding, workload and payroll actions for part-time teaching and non-teaching instructional staff in accordance with contractual guidelines.
In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the responsibilities of the position will include but not be limited to the following:
- Coordinate the daily operations and administrative functions of the Adjunct Services team, ensuring the efficient delivery of services and support for adjunct instructional staff.
- Process and maintain personnel transactions for Teaching and Non-Teaching Instructional Staff, including appointments, reappointments, separations, salary adjustments, and other employment actions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable federal, state, University, and College regulations.
- Coordinate onboarding activities for newly hired adjunct faculty, ensuring the timely collection and verification of required employment documentation and compliance with applicable laws, policies, and institutional procedures, including the completion of employment eligibility verification (Form I-9) for resident and non-resident instructional employees in accordance with federal requirements.
- Prepare and transmit appointment documentation and related employment records to facilitate timely and accurate payroll processing, including new hire documentation, tax forms, and direct deposit authorizations.
- Serve as a primary resource for adjunct faculty and instructional staff by providing guidance and customer service regarding employment processes, policies, and procedures.
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and delivery of orientation programs, training sessions, and informational workshops for adjunct instructional staff.
- Collaborate with Academic Departments, Academic Affairs, Information Technology, the rest of the Human Resources department and other campus offices to facilitate faculty appointments, employment processing, payroll processing and related personnel activities.
- Support continuous process improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, improve customer service, and strengthen employment and onboarding processes for adjunct instructional staff.
- Generate reports and maintain employment data to support operational needs, compliance requirements, and institutional reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
This position currently follows a hybrid work schedule which requires a minimum of 70% onsite presence. Remote work is permitted in accordance with agency policy and operational needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- One to two (1-2) years of administrative experience with general knowledge of basic HR functions (hiring, payroll, onboarding, training and development).
- Ability to interpret, apply and explain HR policies including city, state and federal regulations, labor contracts, etc.
- Experience in a higher education or public sector setting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS systems such as PeopleSoft, Workday, Teams/Zoom, Payroll systems (CHRMS, PMS), including intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Strong customer service skills, good judgment and the ability to resolve inquiries/issues accurately and efficiently
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with senior administrators, faculty and staff
- Ability to work independently on a broad variety of projects in a fast-paced environment
- Clear, empathetic and professional communication (verbal and written) skills
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Handle highly sensitive and confidential information
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Provides information and services to the College community to support the Human Resources function.
- Prepares and executes various personnel transactions involving employee recordkeeping, processing of new hires, pay administration, and recruiting
- Maintains an understanding of policies, procedures, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements relevant to human resources
- Organizes and processes employee information; develops and maintains reports and queries; assures data accuracy and completeness
- Responds to requests for information; troubleshoots issues, follows up and responds to employee inquiries
- Assists HR managers with employee communications of all kinds; may prepare materials, conduct orientation sessions, or update web pages
- Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$56,720 to $66,154. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
Increase of 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
