PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The HVAC Technician II is responsible for the installation, repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems across the community college campus. This position ensures optimal functioning of mechanical systems to provide a comfortable and safe environment for students, faculty, and staff.
This role works collaboratively across LSC campuses on special projects, recommend process improvement, and implement best practices in standard operating procedures (SOPs) across functional units.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Maintains and repairs HVAC systems, including air handlers, boilers, heat pumps, and ventilation equipment
- Performs routine preventative maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure efficiency and longevity
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses system malfunctions using tools such as gauges, meters, and software diagnostics
- Repairs or replaces defective HVAC components such as compressors, motors, fans, belts, and thermostats
- Maintains and repairs refrigeration systems, including walk-in coolers, freezers, and ice machines. Works with refrigerants in compliance with EPA regulations and maintain proper documentation
- Monitors and adjusts HVAC system settings, under supervision to ensure efficient operation
- Assists with general maintenance duties, such as electrical, plumbing, and carpentry, as required
- Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and work orders
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, codes, and college policies
- Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned
