Job Summary
HVAC Technicians
Install and repair facility heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Perform efficiency tests on HVAC equipment to ensure optimal function. Make recommendations for organization in order to improve efficiency or operation. Assist in the design of new facility's plumbing systems. Ensure all HVAC systems are in compliance with local or national regulatory requirements. May require certification in use of refrigerants.

Responsibilities
HVAC Tech I-
Install and repair facility heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Perform efficiency tests on HVAC equipment to ensure optimal function. Make recommendations for university in order to improve efficiency or operation. Assist in the design of new facility's plumbing systems. Ensure all HVAC systems are in compliance with local or national regulatory requirements. May require certification in use of refrigerants. Perform routine tasks as directed and under close supervision.
The HVAC I position requires little to no experience.

HVAC Tech II-

Make recommendations for organization in order to improve efficiency or operation. Assist in the design of new facility's plumbing systems. Ensure all HVAC systems are in compliance with local or national regulatory requirements. May require certification in use of refrigerants. Completes routine tasks under moderate supervision.
The HVAC II position requires at least one year of directly related experience.

Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:
HVAC Technician, I: Requires little to no related experience.
HVAC Technician, II: Requires at least 1 year of related experience.
