Hygrothermal Design Engineer KTP Research Associate (Fixed Term)
University of Nottingham (UoN) invites applications for a Hygrothermal Design Engineer KTP Research Associate with a 25-month fixed contract in building services engineering or mechanical engineering to join our collaboration with Bublshop Limited based in Gillingham, specializing in low-carbon heating and renewable energy technologies. This opportunity involves using AI to control passive thermal enclosure systems to improve the operational efficiency of Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP). You will report to the Managing Director and work closely with Bublshop's Engineering team.
Supported by experts in the Department of Architecture and Built Environment, you will lead a project to develop an AI-driven passive-hygrothermal solution that enhances ASHP efficiency and reliability, targeting a minimum 20% improvement in Coefficient of Performance and a 50% reduction in defrost cycle frequency.
Requirements include a postgraduate degree, ideally a PhD, in relevant fields such as Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Data Science. Strong analytical skills, prior industrial experience, and the ability to collaborate are essential.
