Overview

In particular, the Industrial Engineering and Management course delivered at Universidade de Aveiro emphasizes innovation through the application of Industry 4.0 and 5.0 technologies, with a focus on the analysis, design, and control of integrated systems that promote safe working conditions, optimize cradle-to-cradle material flows, and improve resource and energy efficiency.

The program also addresses processes related to sustainable manufacturing, production, and supply chains, with a strong emphasis on improving data and information management in sustainable business practices, both within individual organizations and across organizational networks. These initiatives support a broader vision of sustainability, encompassing not only environmental concerns, such as clean industrial processes, closed-loop supply chains, circular economy models, greenhouse gas emissions, carbon footprints, and the energy transition, but also social and governance dimensions to foster greater corporate sustainability.
