Universidade de Aveiro offers the Refining, Petrochemical and Chemical Engineering Doctorate programme.
Research Areas
The Doctoral Programme in Refining, Petrochemical and Chemical Engineering is a 3rd cycle excellence initiative, strongly oriented towards research in an industrial environment and aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is developed in close collaboration with the companies that are members of the Association of Petrochemical, Chemical and Refining Industries (AIPQR), building on the proven fundamental and applied research and industry-collaboration experience of faculty and researchers from the participating Departments, Associated Laboratories and Research Centres. This collaboration strengthens innovation capacity and responsible industrial development, contributing to resilient and sustainable industry and infrastructure and to sustainable economic growth.

This Doctoral Programme is highly innovative at both national and European level, representing a unique initiative that brings together the main Schools of Chemical Engineering in Portugal and ensures that research projects are carried out in an industrial setting on topics previously agreed between universities and companies. It aims to train highly qualified professionals capable of playing a leading role in research, technological development, technology internalisation, entrepreneurship and leadership in Refining, Petrochemical and Chemical Engineering, with direct impact on the companies with which they collaborate.
