Governors State University's Family Development Center seeks to fill the position of Infant/Toddler/Two's/Early Childhood Teacher. Salary range is $41,925-$54,333 depending on qualifications.
The successful candidate will implement a success-oriented, developmentally appropriate program for Early Head Start children in a mixed-age classroom for ages 6 weeks to 3 years.
Infant/Toddler teachers integrate all aspects of Early Head Start Performance Standards, NAEYC standards, and Illinois Day Care Regulations into the schedule and curriculum for each child, including special items such as nutrition, behavior, or Individual Family Service Plans.
Teachers work in teams of two or three with the Education Director to design the environment and create lesson plans to meet the individual health, safety, social-emotional, and academic needs of the children.
The applicant must create a warm and accepting environment for children, parents, volunteers, community representatives, and staff, and serve as models for GSU students.

This position is eligible for a $1,500 sign-on bonus, with a two-year minimum commitment.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must be able to speak and write in English.
- Hold an Associates degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development, or an Associates Degree with 18 hours in Early Childhood Education/Child Development and an Infant/Toddler Level 3 credential.
- One year of experience working with infants/toddlers in a licensed setting.
- Valid Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development with 36 credit hours focused on infant and toddler development and at least 3 years of experience working with infants and toddlers.
Supplemental Information
Work Schedule: Infant/Toddler teachers shifts are Monday-Friday, typically 7 AM-3 PM or 10 AM-6 PM, with occasional evenings for home visits and possible weekend/overnight travel for training and conferences.
