Job Description: Provides strategic direction, leadership, and coordination for enterprise security strategies in Information Technology that safeguard information resources.
Responsibilities:
- Perform technical security assessments of computing environments to identify points of vulnerability, non-compliance with established Information Assurance (IA) standards and regulations, and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and updating of security policies and monitoring of IT security procedures; validate and verify system security requirement definitions and analysis.
- Coordinate Enterprise Application Security with Functional Data Stewards to ensure access verification and authorization requirements are monitored and approved.
- Maintain Enterprise Application Security Business processes and work with IA staff in workflow management of security and access requests and approval.
- Integrate IA, cybersecurity, security systems, and system components including those for networking, computing, and enclave environments.
- Ensure security best practices are integrated into systems and operational environments; assist in the identification and implementation of appropriate information security functionality.
- Interface with IT and non-IT personnel to resolve security-related issues; assess and mitigate system security threats/risks throughout the program life cycle.
- Research and proactively identify security updates, conduct vendor and platform risk analysis, and perform security analyses and risk, vulnerability assessments; support the handling, reporting, recording, and resolution of campus-wide security incidents.
- Ensure security is embedded via processes and systems throughout the university by working with various university departments.
- Manage external and internal audits related to information security.
- Collaborate with the USM system office, risk management, and other teams to ensure comprehensive security governance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in information security or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CISSP or similar certification.
- Familiarity with modern technologies such as cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence.
