Are you an experienced administrator with exceptional organisational skills and a talent for managing complex operations? We are seeking an Institute Coordinator to play a pivotal role in the smooth running of our Institute, supporting world-class research and academic excellence.
About us
INI is a national and international visitor research centre running programmes on themes from across the breadth of the mathematical sciences, with applications in a very wide range of societal, scientific and technological areas. The Institute attracts leading scientists from across the world to interact on research over extended periods. Alongside its renowned residential programmes, the INI has nurtured new national initiatives such as the Academy for the Mathematical Sciences and the Knowledge Exchange Hub. The INI's Newton Gateway to Mathematics acts as a knowledge intermediary for the mathematical sciences, reaching out and engaging with the users of mathematics, in industry, business, public sector and other scientific disciplines. Together, the INI and Newton Gateway facilitate world-class research and innovation across the mathematical sciences.
The role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Institute in a brand-new position and help shape how we deliver exceptional support to our academic community. As Institute Coordinator, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the Institute by supporting and coordinating a wide range of activities. You will contribute to the effective management of office administration, facilities, HR processes, and financial monitoring, while ensuring compliance with University policies and procedures. The role also involves leading on important compliance activities such as health and safety and data protection, and providing day-to-day support to a small team responsible for reception and visitor accommodation services.
You'll have the chance to shape processes and contribute to projects that enhance the Institute's operations, making a tangible impact on how we work and deliver services. This is a varied and dynamic position where your organisational skills and proactive approach will make a real difference.
What you will bring to the role
- You will bring proven experience in managing complex administrative and operational functions, ideally within a higher education or similar environment
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to prioritise competing demands and deliver results under pressure
- You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build effective relationships with colleagues at all levels
- A sound understanding of financial processes, HR administration, and compliance requirements will be key, as will proficiency in IT systems and a proactive approach to process improvement
- Leadership experience and the ability to motivate and develop a team will ensure success in this role
