Description:
The Department of Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Houston invite applications for an Instructional Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2026. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and coordinating an inquiry-based Genetics laboratory course and a lecture course that may be a first year biology for science majors or for non-science majors, or another course in a field of interest, in a highly collaborative setting. The position may also entail some shared administrative work. This is a 12-month, non-tenure track appointment with an opportunity for renewal and promotion.
Successful candidates will demonstrate broad training, skills in contemporary pedagogy, a strong interest in teaching undergraduates and a willingness to contribute to the development of student success initiatives and undergraduate programs in the biological sciences. Experience with classroom teaching, laboratory instruction and course development, and familiarity with the use of Drosophila as a research organism are highly desirable.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in a relevant biological discipline and should demonstrate strong academic training, a deep passion and commitment to undergraduate education and evidence-based pedagogy, and a willingness to contribute to student success initiatives and curriculum development in the biological sciences. Classroom teaching experience is highly desirable.
