Chapman University seeks applications for an Instructional Assistant Professor of Mathematics (non-tenure track) in the Schmid College of Science and Technology, starting August 2027.

The Mathematics Program is home to faculty with specializations in a broad range of fields, including complex and hypercomplex analysis, algebra and topology, statistics and biostatistics, mathematical modeling, and mathematics education. The B.S. in Mathematics program, along with the dual B.S. in Mathematics and Civil Engineering, is characterized by personalized education, small class sizes, innovative teaching, and strong research mentoring and student-faculty interactions. Instructional faculty play critical roles in the program for teaching, pedagogy, advising, and service. In addition, instructional faculty have the opportunity for promotion to associate and full professor, are senate-eligible, and have full votes at both the program and college levels.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach four math courses per semester within the Schmid College of Science and Technology. This is a full-time, non-tenure track position that requires work to be performed in the State of California and has in-person teaching responsibilities and required on-campus availability at Chapman’s Orange campus.
Responsibilities include:
- Teach freshman and sophomore level mathematics courses with a primary focus on 100-level courses (e.g., Math 100, Math 108, Math 109) and relevant supplemental courses. Current course descriptions are available at https://catalog.chapman.edu .
