Instructional Designer
Job Description
The Instructional Designer provides pedagogical, instructional design, and learning technology support to faculty in the Rollins College of Business. This position partners with faculty to enhance teaching effectiveness through evidence-based practices, course design, assessment strategies, accessibility, and student engagement. The role supports course development across modalities, facilitates faculty development initiatives, and integrates multimedia and instructional technologies to enhance student learning experiences. Additionally, the position contributes to assessment and planning for teaching and learning initiatives while staying current with best practices in instructional design and educational technology.
Responsibilities
Faculty Consultation & Support
- Provide consultations to faculty on pedagogy, course design, and instructional technologies
- Assist with assignment and assessment design, student engagement strategies, and accessibility
- Support faculty through walk-ins, scheduled sessions, and ongoing collaboration
Course Design & Instructional Development
- Partner with faculty to design and redesign courses across modalities
- Align learning outcomes, instructional activities, and assessments
- Improve course organization, clarity, and overall student experience
Multimedia & Classroom Technology
- Operate the faculty recording studio and support the creation of instructional media (videos, podcasts, live broadcasts)
- Provide guidance on integrating multimedia into teaching and learning
- Manage equipment checkout and coordinate classroom technology needs
Faculty Development Programming
- Design and facilitate workshops, seminars, and training opportunities
- Develop resources to promote instructional innovation and effective technology use
- Engage in professional development to maintain current knowledge of teaching practices
Assessment, Planning & Continuous Improvement
- Evaluate the effectiveness of instructional support services and faculty programs
- Identify emerging instructional needs and contribute to planning efforts
- Participate in committees and initiatives related to teaching and learning
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of teaching and learning theories, models, and best practices in higher education
- Knowledge of instructional technologies and learning management systems
- Skill in written and oral communication
- Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and remain adaptable to feedback
- Ability to integrate emerging technologies (including AI) into instruction
