Instructor/Assistant Professor, Computer Information Systems (AI & Software Development)
Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) seeks a dedicated and innovative Computer Information Systems faculty member to join the department. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to student-centered, outcomes-based education.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Teaching and Learning: Deliver 30 faculty load hours annually (15 hours per semester) through face-to-face, online, hybrid, or off-site instruction. Utilize diverse instructional strategies and technology to foster engagement and promote equitable learning outcomes.
- Student Support: Maintain six office hours per week during fall and spring terms for student advising, mentoring, and support, fostering academic and professional growth.
- Curriculum Development: Collaborate with department faculty to develop, maintain, and update curriculum, ensuring alignment with industry standards and learning outcomes.
- Professional Development: Stay current in the discipline, particularly in emerging areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), chatbots, data engineering, and software development (e.g., DevOps, cloud computing), as well as innovative teaching practices that promote equity and inclusion.
- Assessment: Design and implement effective learning outcomes assessments to ensure continuous improvement in student learning and program quality.
- College and Community Service: Serve on departmental and institutional committees, participate in community partnerships, and contribute to AACC’s mission as a progressive learning organization. This includes mentoring students from underrepresented groups or new faculty, designing and delivering curriculum across various learning modalities, supporting workforce development initiatives, developing and implementing community education programs, partnering with colleagues, leading recruitment and retention strategies, and building collaborative relationships with K-12 schools and four-year institutions.

Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of three years of professional experience with hands-on technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: software development (preferably cloud-based), artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), chatbots, or data engineering.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Combination of industry experience and at least two years of teaching experience, preferably in a community college setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development and learning outcomes assessment.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and at various locations as needed.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, IBM AI, AWS, or similar).
- Experience incorporating innovative teaching strategies and technologies to support diverse learners and promote equity and inclusion.
