Job Summary:
This position provides specialized clinical care for pediatric patients with neurogenetic disorders in an academic medical center, working closely with neurology, genetics, and other subspecialty teams. The role combines patient care with clinical research, supporting observational studies and clinical trials through structured study visits, standardized assessments, and ongoing follow-up in compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include detailed clinical documentation, use of validated measures, accurate data collection, and participation in inpatient assessments or limited on-call support related to novel therapies when needed.
The position works collaboratively with faculty, research staff, and trainees to support study development and implementation and serves as a clinical partner in research workflows. The role emphasizes engagement with patients and families to support informed participation and continuity across clinical care and research. Additional responsibilities may include participation in education, quality improvement activities, and other academic contributions based on experience and interest.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized, evidence-based clinical care for pediatric patients with neurogenetic disorders, including developmental epilepsies and complex neurodevelopmental conditions, within a tertiary academic medical center and close collaboration with neurology, genetics, and other subspecialty teams.
- Integrate clinical care with research activities, supporting natural history studies and interventional clinical trials through conduct of protocol-driven study visits, standardized assessments, and longitudinal follow-up in accordance with IRB, FDA, and institutional guidelines. In support of the delivery of novel therapeutics, inpatient assessment may be required and occasional overnight call to support responding to any safety events related to these therapies.
- Contribute to deep clinical phenotyping and high-quality data generation, including detailed clinical documentation, use of validated outcome measures, accurate data capture to support translational research and trial readiness in rare and ultra-rare neurologic disease.
- Serve as a key member of the academic research team, collaborating with faculty investigators, research coordinators, and trainees on protocol development, study feasibility, and implementation of clinical research workflows.
- Engage with patients and families as partners in research, facilitating informed participation, education, and continuity across clinical care, observational studies and clinical trials.
- Participate in the academic mission of the program, including ongoing education in neurogenetics and precision medicine, contribution to quality improvement initiatives, and potential involvement in teaching, presentations, or scholarly activities aligned with experience and interest.
Work Location: Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Instructor:
- Current Colorado State Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner License
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program. Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant certification required
- Prescriptive Authority or ability to obtain before start date
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional training and expertise in Pediatric neurology
- Interest and/or experience in pediatric neurogenetics research
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong communication skills.
- Broad knowledge and clinical skills in general pediatric neurology
- Broad knowledge and skills in clinical research
