Instructor (full-time, career-stream General Dentist), Faculty of Dentistry, Dalhousie University
The Faculty of Dentistry, Dalhousie University, is seeking applications for a full-time, career-stream General Dentist at the rank of Instructor.
In conjunction with other dental and dental hygiene clinical faculty, the successful candidate is expected to oversee the care of patients seen in one of four clinical ‘group practices’ in the undergraduate program and teach all aspects of clinical oral health care related to general practice. The group practice leader will collaborate with the Director of Group Practice, other group practice leaders, dental specialists, dental hygiene faculty and clinical staff. The position also involves administrative duties related to patient assignment and chart maintenance. Additional expectations for the position include the possibility of didactic and preclinical teaching, as well as participation in continuing education and extracurricular activities, including Faculty committees.
Candidates must have successfully completed their National Dental Examining Board of Canada examinations and be eligible for licensure by the Provincial Dental Board of Nova Scotia. Preference will be given to candidates who have substantial experience in general dental practice and managing a dental practice. A strong record of preclinical and clinical teaching experience would be an asset. One day per week of private practice privilege is integrated with this appointment; however, the Provincial Dental Board of Nova Scotia does not offer academic licensure.
Start date for the position is July 01, 2026.
Applicants should submit a letter of application that includes a statement of the applicant’s dental practice philosophy and previous teaching experience, and a curriculum vitae that includes the names and contact information of three referees. For more information about the position, please contact Dr. Ferne Kraglund, Chair of the Search Committee at kraglund@dal.ca.
