Position Description

The Department of Art & Visual Culture invites applications for a part-time Instructor to teach an undergraduate foundations course 'Physical Computing' to Interactive Media minors and non-minors beginning January 2026.

Instructor needs to be able to teach in-person.

Applicants should demonstrate a strong background in physical computing that includes foundational electrical engineering, programming, soldering, working with microcontrollers (Arduino), and working with sensors/outputs. Applicants should have an active professional studio practice (that includes exhibitions, residencies/fellowships, and/or publications) or equivalent professional work experience in the space of physical computing. The appointment requires the teaching of SAVC 331 Physical Computing and scheduled participation in the Spelman College Innovation Lab.

The Department of Art & Visual Culture is part of the Division of the Arts that includes the departments of Dance Performance & Choreography, Music, Theater & Performance, and the Spelman College Innovation Lab.
