DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:
Foothill College is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Health Instructor to join our Health Sciences and Horticulture division beginning fall 2026. Under the direction of the Dean of Health Sciences and Horticulture, the successful candidate will teach a full load of Health courses and contribute to the development, implementation, and assessment of curriculum that supports health-related pathways, including the creation and maintenance of certificate programs aligned with workforce and transfer needs.
This position includes instructional responsibilities as well as participation in curriculum development, program review, governance, scheduling, budget, and other faculty duties consistent with a full-time assignment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Teach a full-time load of Health courses, which may include, but not limited to:
- Introduction to Public Health
- Contemporary Health Concerns
- Health and Social Justice
- Drugs, Health and Society
- Health Across the Lifespan
- Teach in a variety of modalities, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats
- Develop and revise curriculum in alignment with Title 5, C-ID, and transfer requirements
- Develop curriculum and certificates for health pathways
- Assess student learning outcomes and use data to improve instruction
- Provide academic support to students
- Participate in department meetings, college governance, program review, and professional development
- Contribute to a collegial, collaborative academic environment
- Contribute to department, division, and college governance through committee service and collaborative work with faculty, staff, and administrators.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and student success, particularly for students from historically underserved backgrounds, and will contribute to a collegial and collaborative academic environment consistent with the mission of the California Community Colleges.
Standard faculty duties include curriculum development and assessment; maintaining scheduled office hours; attending department, division, and college meetings; participating in professional development activities; serving on district and college committees; engaging in campus extracurricular activities; and performing other duties consistent with the role of an instructor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
- Applicants must meet one of the following minimum qualifications per California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office:
- Master's degree in Health Science, Health Education, Public Health, or a closely related field
- OR
- Bachelor's degree in Health Science or a related field AND a Master's degree in a related discipline
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful teaching experience in a community college setting
- Experience teaching a variety of health-related courses
- Experience or training in online and hybrid instruction
- Demonstrated commitment to equity-minded teaching and serving diverse student populations
- Experience with culturally responsive pedagogy and inclusive curriculum design
- Knowledge of community college curriculum processes and assessment practices
- Experience in developing curriculum and degree pathways

HIRING RANGE: $76,596 - $123,297 annually plus benefits; actual placement is based on applicant's verified education and experience.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time, Tenure-track, 10-months per year.
STARTING DATE: Fall 2026.
