Job Description

The Department of English invites applications for a full-time (0.9 FTE) Instructor at the International College Beijing (ICB) beginning in fall 2026. Interested candidates must have at least a MA in an appropriate field and a proven record of teaching excellence. Preference will be given to those with experience teaching at four-year colleges/universities and abroad. Course assignments are primarily in composition but include those in introductory literature and film narrative. The teaching load is 8 courses per academic year (4 in fall and 4 in spring) with one of the four courses each term assigned to the Writing Center at ICB. The instructor will also assume 10% of their duties in service roles selected in consultation with the Department Chair.

Located in the Haidian District of Beijing, International College Beijing (ICB) is an international partnership between China Agricultural University (CAU) and the University of Colorado Denver that offers complete undergraduate programs in Economics and Communication. All courses are administered and taught by CU Denver faculty in English, and the degree earned is awarded by CU Denver.

What you will do:

• Teach 8 courses per academic year (4 in fall and 4 in spring), including one course assigned to the writing center at ICB
• Service duties assigned in consultation with the Department Chair

Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)

• Master's degree in English or a related field and at least one of the following: A TEFL or TESOL certificate, Two years of language teaching experience, An education/teaching related degree; AND,
• Two years of independent teaching experience as the instructor of record

Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)

• Experience teaching at a four-year college/university and abroad
