Instructor in the Department of Neurosurgery specializing in Neuroendovascular and Cerebrovascular Surgery

Description

The Department of Neurosurgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Instructor position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of neuroendovascular and cerebrovascular surgery. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Candidates should have completed fellowships in endovascular neurosurgery and cerebrovascular microsurgery.

Responsibilities may include neuroendovascular and microsurgical treatment of cerebrovascular disorders including aneurysms, AVMs, ischemic disorders of the brain and spine, and hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes at Penn Medicine and affiliated hospital sites. Research or scholarship opportunities may include collaborations on clinical research in cerebrovascular and neurovascular technology. The successful applicant will be responsible for the education of medical students and residents, and fellows within the neuroendovascular fellowship.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to grow their expertise in the management of complex hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke cases and other cerebrovascular disorders with faculty supervision and mentorship. There is also an opportunity to develop skills in building a clinical practice and a referral network.
