SUMMARY The Department of Kinesiology, Sport Studies, and Physical Education (KSSPE) at SUNY Brockport is seeking a full-time, 10 month, tenure-track Instructor of Kinesiology. The Department of KSSPE maintains the largest student enrollment on campus and houses four undergraduate majors (Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, and Sport Management). The KSSPE Department has experienced significant student growth due to its commitment to quality teaching, laboratory-based learning, and consistent scholarship. JOB FUNCTIONS Essential Functions: Teaching (70%) Teaches a 4/4 course load. For these purposes, a course refers to a 3-credit course or equivalent. Teaches courses in Motor Development and Motor Learning, with the potential to teach additional courses within the KSSPE Department. Creates effective course materials, as provided in teaching portfolio, and demonstrates successful student learning outcomes. Uses student instructional assessment survey (IAS) results to inform continuous improvement. Scholarship (5-10%) Engages in scholarly activities to produce scholarly publications, presentations, and related scholarly work. Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current in the field. Service (20-25%) Actively participates in department level meetings and serves on at least one additional department committee per academic year. Faculty at this level are also expected to serve on college level committees. Provides service to the department, University, community, and profession. Participates in information sessions for prospective students, advisement, and registration. Attends university events. Provides academic advisement to students in the KSSPE Department. REQUIREMENTS Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Kinesiology, Motor Behavior, or related field by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university The ability to teach undergraduate motor behavior courses as well as other appropriate courses in the department as needed The ability to provide quality mentorship to students Preferred Qualifications: Previous college-level teaching experience Doctoral degree in Kinesiology (or related field) Experience mentoring students Evidence of scholarly publications Previous record of service, university or otherwise ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Work Schedule: Variable Benefits: This position is benefits eligible.
