Job Description
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
Primarily teach first and second-year courses in the Business career and transfer program areas. Contribute to the development, review, assessment, and maintenance of high-quality business programs while remaining current with business trends and teaching methodologies to continuously improve instruction. Assist in recruitment, retention, advisement, and graduation of students. Participate actively in the academic life of the college.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Primarily teach first and second-year courses in the Business career and transfer program areas. Teaching may involve face-to-face or using remote, online, hybrid, or hyflex modalities during the day, evening, and/or weekends as needed.
Actively participate in course assessment activities to assess student learning including calculation of grades and reporting of attendance as required by the college.
Contribute to the development, review, and update of high-quality accounting and business programs, working closely with other accounting and business faculty.
Assist in recruitment, retention, advisement, and graduation of students.
Participate in college service-related activities and committees.
Participate in professional development activities.
Job Requirements:
Educational Background:
Master's Degree in Business Administration, Management, or Business-related field
Experience:
A minimum of five years of business experience is required. In addition, a minimum of one year of experience teaching or training is also required. Professional experience with a strong record of leadership in general business, retail, sales, supply chain, or entrepreneurship preferred. Community college experience is preferred. Familiarity with computer-assisted/multimedia instruction and distance learning (such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Brightspace) is preferred.
Special Skills or Requirements
Strong teaching or training skills with familiarity in a wide range of instructional strategies. An express commitment to student and retention-centered modes of instruction and advisement. Preparation to teach online preferred. Must be able to demonstrate sensitivity to diverse individuals in the broadest sense, ensuring inclusion for all students. Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and the community.
The ideal candidate will possess a passion for teaching and learning, be highly approachable, exhibit a positive attitude, and a willingness to embrace evolving technologies. Importantly, this individual must demonstrate success in experiential learning techniques, thus bridging the gap from theory to real-world practice. This person will strive to create and maintain personal connections with students and the college community. The individual must be a friendly, enthusiastic, collaborative team player with a strong work ethic who contributes to Genesee's supportive community, dedicated to effective and innovative strategies for student success.
Additional Information:
RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to the Director of Business Programs. The faculty member works cooperatively with full-time and adjunct faculty and staff.
SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a full-time, in-person, Batavia campus-based, ten (10) month appointment to start the Spring 2026 semester. The compensation rate for the 2025-2026 academic year will be $52,390.90. Salary, benefits, and conditions of employment are as set by the GEA contract.
