Detailed Position Information
The University of Alabama School of Music invites applications for a renewable contract, full-time appointment as an Instructor of Recording Technology. The successful candidate will be able to record, edit, and mix audio projects across a wide range of musical genres and ensemble configurations while teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in recording and hybrid mixing. Responsibilities include mentoring students in studio workflow, session management, critical listening, and hybrid analog/digital production techniques. The position also involves operating, maintaining, and further developing recording facilities, including Pro Tools systems, Dolby Atmos mixing/production, analog mixers, and outboard processing. The faculty member will collaborate with faculty colleagues and university ensembles on recording projects. Additional responsibilities include contributing to student recruitment, curriculum development, and the continued growth of the program. Anticipated course load: the equivalent of 12 credit hours per semester. (Teaching load may vary from semester to semester, with the balance filled by related course work.)
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in music is required. Evidence of successful college level teaching experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
DMA degree or candidates in ABD status
