Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching Responsibilities:
- Teaches 12 credits per semester, which may include any combination of theory, clinical, skills lab, and simulation lab.
- Develops, teaches, and evaluates assigned courses and remediation.
- Evaluates student performance on exams, course assignments, and in clinical environments, including skills lab and simulation lab.
- Assumes responsibility for serving as a course coordinator, as appropriate.
- Coordinates clinical rotations with clinical agencies and clinical adjuncts. Participates in the development, revision, and evaluation of the ASN and/or BSN programs.
- Participates in ongoing course and curriculum revisions.
- Participates in course and programmatic assessment activities.
Service Responsibilities:
- Provides engaged service at the programmatic, College, University, and community levels.
- Participates in student recruitment and retention activities.
- Advises currently enrolled and prospective students.
Scholarship and Professional Development:
- Maintains appropriate scholarly and professional development activities.
- Provides expertise in the area of medical-surgical nursing leadership.
- Contributes to the continuing innovation and development of programs in the College of Nursing.
- Participates in the assessment, evaluation, and accreditation of the College of Nursing programs and the University.
- Obtains certification as a Nurse Educator (CNE) within a specified timeframe, if not already certified.
Leadership and Administrative Responsibilities:
- Participates in, manages, or leads projects within the College of Nursing and University, as requested.
- Performs related duties as necessary and as assigned.
Minimum Required Education
Candidates with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) will be considered, provided they are currently enrolled in a Master's program or commit to completing an MSN within two years of hire.
Required Licenses and/or Certifications
Possess an unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia or a multi-state compact license.

Minimum Required Qualifications
- A minimum of two (2) years of recent experience in acute care settings, with expertise in areas such as medical-surgical nursing, ICU, or mental health.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
