Job Description

OU IT fosters a dynamic work environment and offers a wide range of career opportunities. The Intermediate Apps Developer candidate will play a key role predominantly in a team environment. Mentors junior developers. Designs applications and user interfaces to accommodate data integrated from various sources. Produces solutions in accordance with best practices in development including security and digital accessibility. Use discretion and ingenuity in solving problems and in developing solutions in accordance with departmental practices.

Duties

  • Develops software solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Tests source code and debugs code.
  • Evaluates existing applications and performs updates and modifications.
  • Develops technical handbooks to represent the design and code of new applications.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Job Requirements

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree, AND:

  • 24 months experience in application and software development.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months related experience

Skills

  • Experience with Django Python development.
  • Experience with VCS, preferably Git.
  • Advanced skill level in CSS, HTML5, and JavaScript.
  • Knowledge of MVC and responsive web designs.
  • Knowledge of application testing and continuous integration.
  • Be detailed oriented and adaptable to change.
  • Be able to participate on a project team and also independently with appropriate supervision to successfully complete assigned tasks with good outcomes.
  • Be willing and able to communicate appropriately and effectively with customers as necessary.
  • Ability to use a variety of troubleshooting skills to resolve.
  • Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods.
  • Requires minimum travel; requires contact with other departments and university officials.
  • Customer Service experience.
  • Experience working cooperatively on a team.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.

  • Lift up to 15 lbs.
  • Remain for extended periods in front of computer monitor using a keyboard

Departmental Preferences

  • Experience with Node and React JavaScript
  • Understanding of 12Factor methodology
  • Experience with Django Rest Framework (DRF) and Flask
