- Manage the delivery of the curriculum for pre-, during-, and post internship components of two one-credit experiential learning reflection courses, CFAN3096: Making the Most of Your Professional Experience and CFAN 4096: Reflecting on Your Professional Experience.
- Provide ongoing support for adjunct instructors around areas of: course enrollment procedures, Canvas, assignments, employer relations, and navigating campus resources.
- Oversee the course registration process in cooperation with CFANS student services staff, Career & Internship Services staff, and CFANS faculty.
- Respond in a timely manner to registration questions from students and faculty.
- Review and approve internship applications to ensure internships meet quality standards. Communicate with students, as necessary, to ensure experiences meet course policies.
- Manage distribution of permission numbers and monitor section size to ensure even distribution.
- Leverage the internship module available through the Handshake system to manage online learning agreements, evaluation process, and data reporting.
- Serve as university liaison to internship site supervisors to establish relationships and respond to site questions/needs.
- Communicate expectations to sites related to supervision and internship course requirements including goal setting and performance evaluation processes
- Address problems or miscommunication that may arise with internship sites during internships to ensure a positive experience for both students and internship sites.
- Oversee communication strategies to inform students about the CFANS Unpaid Internship Grant.
- Oversee distribution of the grant to student recipients
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS with at least 2 years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal six years; position involves comparing, verifying and reconciling data to help the department achieve overall objectives.
- Minimum of one year of experience within higher education in a career services, advising, student affairs or student services role.
- Strong detail orientation and accountability
- Experience within higher education in a career services, advising, student affairs or student services role.
- Experience working with internship or experiential education programs.
- Understanding of University of Minnesota policies and registration systems.
- Experience communicating and developing relationships with faculty and external partners.
- Previous experience with Canvas or CSO systems is a plus.
Career & Internship Services (CIS) serves over 5,000 currently enrolled and degree-seeking undergraduate and graduate students and recent alumni in the following colleges: College of Continuing and Professional Studies, College of Design, and the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences.
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $30.00 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
