Department: The Office for Civil Rights and Equity within the Division of Human Resources and Inclusive Excellence
Salary Range: $7,400 - $8,800 per month
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
The Office for Civil Rights and Equity is seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Investigation and Prevention Specialist (Administrator I) and advance our ongoing commitment to foster and maintain a campus environment free from all forms of discrimination and harassment. We are searching for a driven, proactive, and ethically minded individual to assist with the prevention and investigation of all forms of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, sexual exploitation, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, and retaliation.
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university. A minimum of two years of full-time professional experience in Title VI, Title VII, or Title IX, related types of civil rights investigations, or other related work for an educational institution. Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, coordinate, and organize educational programs and activities. Exceptional communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to advise students individually and in groups on program planning and development. Ability to acquire knowledge of relevant campus procedures. Ability to be impartial and project impartiality as well as establish rapport with various community members. Demonstrated ability to exercise superior judgment with the ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential communications. Demonstrated commitment to serving a diverse population with cultural competence and sensitivity, as well as the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies including staff, students, faculty, administrators, and third parties with diplomacy and tact. Possession of strong organization and analytical skills. Ability to handle a significant caseload and manage multiple deadlines. Ability to build positive relationships and establish collaborative partnerships across the university.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited college or university. Three years of experience as a Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, or civil rights investigator. Completed training and/or current certification in conducting investigations for allegations of discrimination, harassment, and/or retaliation. Experience working in a higher education environment. Experience with and/or knowledge of California and/or CSU civil rights investigation procedures.
