About the Role

Reporting to the Associate Director, Commercialisation: Space, Aerospace and Student Ventures, the Investment Manager, Student Ventures is responsible for assessing, developing, and progressing student-led venture opportunities. This includes supporting early-stage commercial validation, building investment readiness, working directly with student founders on venture structure, equity, governance and capital strategy, and facilitating new venture formation. This role acts as the hands on deal lead for student ventures, working directly with founders to shape, test, structure and progress real companies toward investment readiness.

The role works closely with, and follows on from, student engagement and activation initiatives led by the Senior Coordinator, Student Start-ups. It focuses on conducting commercial due diligence, structuring ventures, supporting founders, and preparing governance requirements to enable student ventures to progress into approved University investment pathways, including Swinburne Ventures Limited (SVL) and the Breakthrough Victoria University Innovation Program (BV UIP). This position plays a critical role in translating high-potential student ideas into investment-ready ventures, operating within Swinburne’s commercialisation, governance, and risk frameworks.

This role will suit candidates with experience as start-up operators, early stage investors, accelerator managers or commercialisation professionals who enjoy hands on venture building and working closely with founders in ambiguous, early stage environments.

Further information about this role can be found in the attached position description.
