Job Summary
The Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (WVDL) is seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused IT Professional to support the technology needs of a dynamic laboratory environment. This role provides general desktop support for WVDL staff and assists with system administration for the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). The position includes delivering end-user support, training and documentation to promote efficient use of WVDL hardware, software, and applications.
A well-qualified candidate will have the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic work environment. They will also have excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer-service skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse teams and end users.
The IT Professional position plays an essential role in onboarding new staff, maintaining data integrity, and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards. This individual collaborates closely with the WVDL IT team, as well as laboratory personnel, administrative teams and management to support and improve IT systems, contributing to the reliability and success of WVDL operations.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots hardware, configurations, multimedia, and software applications for various environments and business needs - 40%
- Assist with system administration and maintenance of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), including user account management, configuration updates, and basic troubleshooting - 10%
- Answers routine to moderately complex questions and provides information, creates documentation, and trains end users regarding hardware, software, applications, and technology access - 40%
- Researches potential technology purchases and makes recommendations to leadership according to work unit business needs and requests - 10%

Compensation
The minimum salary for this position is $26.00/hour.

Required Qualifications
- Familiarity with standard desktop operating systems, hardware, and commonly used applications.
- Experience working in an information technology role.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven ability to advocate for process improvement and support continuous optimization across technical workflows and operational procedures.
- Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve routine issues across systems, platforms, networks (including printers), and applications, ensuring security, confidentiality, compatibility, and optimal functionality within a multi-user environment
- Experience with system administration for platforms such as LIMS, ERP, SDMS, LES or QMS.
- Demonstrated success working independently, effectively prioritizing tasks, taking initiative in problem-solving, and proactively seeing assistance or collaboration when needed to ensure timely and accurate resolutions.
