Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
We have an exciting opportunity for an IT Technician to support our innovative teaching and research in game design, virtual and mixed reality, and interactive media. In this dynamic, hands-on role, you will provide specialist technical support across game design and interactive technologies, manage the School’s advanced VR/MR/AR laboratories, and design customised digital systems to support teaching and research.
You will also oversee IT systems and desktop support, collaborate closely with UC’s Information Technology Services, and drive innovation to ensure our facilities remain cutting-edge, all while guiding and supporting staff and students with expert technical advice.
Mōu | Who You Are
You will be a proactive, solutions-focused technician with a passion for technology, digital design, and the creative possibilities of interactive media, you will also bring:
- A relevant qualification such as a BSc in Computer Science or equivalent experience in IT, gaming, or digital design.
- 3–5 years’ experience providing IT or desktop support in a dynamic, multi-platform environment.
- Strong skills in computer systems administration and a sound understanding of networked systems and operating environments.
- Experience with game engines such as Unity or Unreal, and/or programming in languages such as Python, C#, C++, or JavaScript.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to guide and support both staff and students.
- A commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and bicultural awareness, in line with UC’s values and vision.
An ability to assemble and configure simple electronic circuits and devices, such as Arduino-based mechatronic systems is an advantage.
