Junior Animal Technician

We are looking for a junior animal technician to join our friendly, hardworking team and be actively involved in the daily care and maintenance of animals within our aquatics biofacilities in Cambridge.

Working under supervision, you will be involved in general husbandry of animals (primarily fish, with some Xenopus work) including; feeding, tank cleaning and carrying out of routine procedures to ensure the hygiene of animal accommodation as well as the general upkeep of the facilities. The role will include working across multiple sites within Cambridge on a rota basis, public transport is available.

You will enjoy working with animals, with particular interest and previous experience working with or caring for fish or other aquatic animals. You will be positive, reliable and able to interact with team colleagues and research staff. You will have a good general education with GCSE English, Mathematics and a Science (or equivalent).

The post is available immediately and subject to the satisfactory completion of a 3 month probationary period.

In addition to the base salary stated above, the successful candidate for this post will receive an additional 2.5% supplement to their pay.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment and a security check.
