Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Kaiāwhina Matua - Executive Assistant to join the Office of the Dean in the Wellington School of Business and Government (WSBG) on a permanent, full-time basis at the University’s Pipitea Campus.
This role provides executive level, comprehensive support to the Amo Ōrauariki - Dean to ensure that they are supported in their day-to-day activities, as well as a crucial contribution to the running of the Office of the Dean.
Due to the nature of the role and the need for close, in-person support, this position is primarily based on campus. While there may be limited flexibility to work remotely in exceptional circumstances, on-campus presence is expected to be the norm.
Key responsibilities:
- High quality executive level support to the Amo Ōrauariki – Dean.
- Secretarial duties for Boards of which the Amo Ōrauariki - Dean is the Chair or the primary stakeholder, inclusive of WSBG’s Faculty Board and Faculty Management Team.
- Logistical, financial, and administrative support for the Office of the Dean.

This role is fast‑paced and highly rewarding, contributing immensely to the efficiency and effectiveness of the Dean’s Office.
You will enjoy working both independently and as part of a friendly and collaborative team through a diverse range of tasks requiring a high degree of confidentiality, initiative, tact, accuracy, and independent judgement.
Key requirements:
- Previous experience as an EA or PA within a large and/or complex organisation.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and make decisions about priorities.
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills, with the ability to express complex matters in a concise and easily understandable manner.
- An advanced level of computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
