Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting an Kaiwhakahaere Taupānga me ngā Pātengi Raraunga - Applications and Databases Administrator on a permanent, full-time contract.
Key responsibilities:
- Champion our systems – Manage and enhance StarRez to deliver smooth, accurate, and student-focused application and offer processes.
- Empower others – Provide expert training, guidance, and troubleshooting to ensure staff and partners use our systems with confidence.
- Lead the student journey – Oversee application allocation and offers, support waiting pool management, and build strong relationships with schools and providers.
- Create seamless experiences – Coordinate bookings for hall tours and move-in/out, ensuring every interaction is easy and welcoming.
- Promote a safe, compliant culture – Take responsibility for health, safety, risk management, and policy compliance.
Ō pūmanawa - About you
We’re looking for someone who can design, implement, and fine-tune our accommodation application, incident reporting, and payment processes, making sure students are placed quickly and smoothly into the right halls. You’ll be confident using (and improving) our systems, with a sharp eye for detail and a knack for keeping things running efficiently.

You bring curiosity, creativity, and just the right amount of mischief to every project, because you understand that great work—and great teams—are built on joy, energy, and a shared sense of purpose.
What we’re looking for:
- Process improver – You know how to streamline systems and processes, boosting efficiency without ever losing sight of great customer service.
- Tech confident – You’re savvy with Microsoft Office and have 1–2 years’ database experience (StarRez a bonus!).
- Clear communicator – Strong written and verbal skills that help you connect with a wide range of people.
- Student-focused – Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and cultures, with empathy and understanding.
- University aware – Familiarity with the University and its culture, or the ability to quickly get up to speed.
