Lab Animal Care Tech- Part Time
Position Summary:
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Lab Animal Care Technician for the Center for Cell Signaling within the New Jersey Medical School (NJMS).
The primary purpose of this position is to support the care and maintenance of a zebrafish facility, composed of a Quarantine system and a Main colony system.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Feeds zebrafish daily, in the morning and afternoon.
- Maintains room logs daily.
- Sets up and/or collects brine shrimp hatchery daily; sanitizes brine shrimp hatchery after collection.
- Sanitizes dirty/used husbandry and breeding accessories, daily or as necessary.
- Scrubs dirty tanks and sanitizes by cage washing; scrubs lids, baffles, and siphons, and sanitizes by bleaching.
- Cleans and sanitizes animal rooms weekly; discards trash as needed.
- Check supply inventory weekly and refills as necessary; reports to PI if supplies need to be ordered (PI will handle ordering).
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant area, such as: Psychology, Medicine, Public Health, Education, or related field
