Job Description:

Job Summary:

The part-time hourly Lab Assistant will provide support to faculty and students in the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program's laboratory sessions.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set up, supervise, and break down lab and testing stations; maintain a safe, organized learning environment throughout lab sessions.
• Support laboratory instruction through demonstration, coaching, and supervision of student skill practice in simulated patient-care scenarios.
• Conduct and score student competency checkoffs and practical skill assessments using established course rubrics/checklists and required safety criteria.
• Communicate effectively with the course coordinator to learn and understand all curriculum policies and rules for testing in the lab.

Schedule:

Friday mornings in the fall semester, Monday or Wednesday, and Friday mornings in the Spring semester.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Current New York State Physical Therapist Assistant license in good standing with 3+ years of experience within the last 5 years.
• Must be able to assist students with physical therapy interventions and have broad experience with current and evolving health technology as well as basic troubleshooting skills.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills; professionalism, reliability, and ability to collaborate with faculty and students.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Prior teaching or instructional support experience in PTA education (clinical instruction and/or lab instruction, orthopedic outpatient experience).
• Demonstrated connections with local healthcare organizations.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and other languages will be considered.

Additional Information:

• Adjunct rate of pay for the 26/27 academic year is $48.70/ per hour. Classes will be assigned on an as needed basis dependent upon enrollment.
• Adjuncts are eligible to participate in the NYS Teacher's Retirement System.
