Position Highlights
The School of Animal and Comparative Biomedical Sciences of the University of Arizona seeks to fill the role of Laboratory Coordinator I. This position will help support the microbiology teaching labs (both in-person and remote labs). This position supports a teaching lab and is not a research position. The successful candidate will make media, clean glassware, set up and take down experiments. The successful candidate will also operate an autoclave and industrial dishwasher in addition to other laboratory equipment. Classes run from 8am-5pm and we need support staff there before and after the class so the incumbent may be asked to work outside of regular business hours including short periods of time over the weekends.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Sets up and coordinates laboratory experiments including equipment and supplies. Coordinate, support and schedule experiments in a teaching laboratory or field operations. Communicates details within the department. Trains others on equipment usage and address questions concerning experiments and equipment.
- Coordinates ordering, inventory, storage, and maintenance of lab supplies and equipment. Monitors equipment for proper functioning; performs minor repairs and calibrations on equipment and contacts the appropriate party to perform major repairs.
- Participates with senior professionals on projects and tasks, such as preparing and assisting in the preparation of media and reagents. Assists in the production, packing and mailing of at home laboratory kits.
- Assists with setup and disassembly of experiments, maintaining cleanliness and safety. Disassembles laboratory after experiments and cleans lab space and disposes of used media and cleaning glassware. Operates autoclave to sterilize media and dispose of bio-hazard waste from laboratory experiments.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- One or more years of work experience supporting teaching labs.
- Experience working with clinical laboratory tests and materials.
- Experience working with BSL-2 and/or CSL2 environments.
- Experience making media and following protocols and standard operating procedures.
