Laboratory Safety Manager
This position provides technical assistance to the Director of Environmental Health and Safety in support of the primary purpose and goals of the Environmental Health and Safety Office to include program development, conducting program audits, policy development, policy review, advising/consulting faculty and staff, implementation of behavior based safety programs. Provide guidance to Environmental Health and Safety Director with regards to all Laboratory safety related issues. Position is responsible for developing and evaluating comprehensive university wide laboratory safety program including Chemical Hygiene, Biological Safety and Radiation Safety. Position is required to act as the University Radiation Safety Officer as defined by the State of North Carolina. Position specializes in the anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of laboratory safety hazards in the university environment. Also provides technical guidance to other EH&S staff during routine and emergency situations. Position will serve as part of the UNCG Environmental Health and Safety Emergency Response Team.
Minimum Qualifications
- Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required; for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity or comparable background in independent academic or instructional activities, will accept a relevant undergraduate degree and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree in relatable subject field.
- 7 years experience leading laboratory safety or related programs in a university or similar setting.
