Job Summary
The Laboratory Technician will support environmental research and analytical testing related to environmental samples. This position is responsible for sample preparation, chemical analyses, data recording, and laboratory operations in compliance with standard methods, quality assurance protocols, and safety regulations. The technician will work closely with faculty, researchers, and students to support research, monitoring, and applied projects.
This position is time limited and 100% sponsored-funded; therefore, continued employment is contingent upon availability of grant or contract funding.
Responsibilities
- Perform field sampling activities, including equipment prep, sample collection and preservation, documentation, and post-field processing in compliance with QA/QC and safety protocols
- Conduct routine chemical and microbiological analyses in the filed and in the laboratory
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, logs, and chain-of-custody documentation
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instruments
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree with a major in Chemistry or equivalent, OR an Associate's Degree with two (2) years of professional experience in an environmental laboratory or equivalent work places
Required Experience
- Minimum one year of experience in a laboratory

Preferred Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree with a major in Chemistry or equivalent
Preferred Experience
- Minimum two years of professional experience in an environmental laboratory
- Water Lab Analyst license or a Class I or II Water Operator license
Proposed Salary
$42,500 - $45,000
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.

- Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
- Demonstrated experience with data reporting
