Job Description
The Large Animal Clinical Skills Assistant will work closely with students and designated faculty and will assist in lab and clinical activities for assigned courses and educational activities under the direction of the designated faculty.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED;
- experience handling and managing horses and cattle
Preferred Qualifications
- A.S. or A.A.S. in Veterinary Medical Technology;
- minimum of one year being an instructor in an associate degree level veterinary technology program or veterinary medical college
Job Duties
- Promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students, and to the community at large;
- promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff and students;
- participate on university committees;
- assist the designated faculty to provide clinical and lab experiences for students in an efficient, professional, and authoritative manner;
- assist in the education of the student under the direction of designated faculty while the student learns the veterinary medical clinical skills process as he/she acquires the knowledge, understanding, and the entry-level skills required of veterinarians;
- assist with preparation for laboratories including organization of resources, including faculty, animals, student groups, equipment for laboratory, and consumables for laboratories;
- assist with lab clean up;
- assist with handling, maintenance, monitoring, and treatment of the large animals housed at the DeBusk Veterinary Teaching Center;
- ensure that all OSHA and USDA guidelines are implemented in student clinical student activities,
- oversee medical records of animals that are used in teaching;
- comply with all IACUC guidelines;
- maintain adequate records for animals;
- maintain a current inventory of materials and equipment used in labs;
- participate in the handling, maintenance, monitoring, and treatment of the large animals housed at the DVTC;
- complete required institutional and program accreditation reports and other reports necessary for the operation and advancement of the University;
- and other duties as assigned;
- demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in supporting and promoting success in the CVM
