Description: Assists corporate lawyers by conducting legal research or preparing legal documents. May meet with clients or assist lawyers in court and trial related research.

1. Performs legal research and analyzes legal questions.
2. Interprets and applies legal procedural and evidentiary rules.
3. Applies oral and written communication techniques.
4. Examines and analyzes existing evidence, facts or data against legal precedents.
5. Researches and analyzes law sources to prepare draft memoranda, briefs or arguments for review, approval and use by attorneys.
6. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Additional Posting Information: The Law Clerk positions will support the University of Houston Law Center in different areas of the Law. Working on projects assigned by the supervisor in the area you will be working in. · The term of the position is one year. · J.D. degree required. · Must have strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, and the ability to follow through on details while operating within the priorities set by leadership. · Strong written and oral communication skills required. · Must have the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Education will be considered in lieu of experience. MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.
