Job details

By joining the University of Lancashire, you’ll become part of a thriving community of talent that’s united by a shared vision – to transform the lives of our students and create prosperity and opportunity in the communities we serve. Every colleague has a vital role to play in helping us achieve this vision.

About the role:

The School of Medicine and Dentistry are seeking to appoint a Mental Health Teaching Lead to join our MBBS teaching team at our Westlakes campus in Cumbria. The postholder will lead the delivery of teaching in the mental health aspects of our MBBS curriculum, and will work with colleagues in the University and partner healthcare organisations to design and facilitate the delivery of innovative solutions to deliver clinical learning. The postholder will also be involved in curriculum development and assessment of students.

Candidates will be appointed at Clinical Senior Lecturer grade unless eligibility for Consultant grade can be demonstrated.

About you:

You will have significant experience of working as a medical practitioner within a mental health setting and of teaching undergraduate medical students.

For this role, a full registration with the General Medical Council, a primary medical qualification (e.g. MB, ChB, MBBS) and a recognised teaching qualification or willingness to undertake an appointment are essential.

The post will be based at Westlakes campus. Occasional travel to the Burnley and Preston campuses may be required.

Informal enquiries are welcomed; please contact Dr. Tim Smith, Academic Lead for the School of Medicine (Westlakes), via email in the first instance.

Applicants must meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.

What we can offer you:

Our people are our most important asset. We’ll encourage you to make the most of your talents and continually develop your skills and knowledge. As well as realising your career ambitions, you’ll be making a positive difference to other people’s lives. We also offer a fantastic package of rewards and lifestyle benefits – from an attractive annual leave entitlement to access to a comprehensive employee benefits platform.

We are proud to be a diverse, multicultural university. We are committed to building a truly inclusive culture where diversity is championed. Applications are particularly welcomed from individuals who will support the diversification within the University and support its development of a culture that is inclusive and welcoming to all.
