Lead Nurse Practitioner – Marcus Institute for Brain Health
Job Summary:
The Marcus Institute for Brain Health (MIBH) at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is a nationally recognized leader in clinical care, research, and education related to Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and co-occurring psychological health conditions. MIBH provides specialized, evidence-based care to active-duty service members, Veterans, and first responders with persistent and complex symptoms following TBI.
MIBH delivers care through a structured Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) that includes comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and individualized treatment planning. Care is provided through a co-located interdisciplinary team model that integrates conventional Western medicine with evidence-based integrative therapies.
Examples of Work Performed
The lead Nurse Practitioner (NP) will serve as a full-time member of the MIBH interdisciplinary care team, functioning as a medical provider delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with TBI and complex co-occurring conditions. The lead NP will work closely with the physician lead Neurologist and collaborate across disciplines including behavioral health, rehabilitation, and integrative health.
The NP reports to the MIBH Director of Clinical Operations, with clinical oversight by the Neurologist and clinical and strategic oversight from the Executive Director.
General Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead high-level, evidence-based medical care within a co-located interdisciplinary Center of Excellence model
- Manage conventional medical management with integrative and holistic treatment approaches
- Contribute to a collaborative, mission-driven team focused on innovation, quality, and compassionate care
Clinical Care Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive, evidence-based care to Veterans, active-duty service members, and first responders with TBI and co-occurring psychological health conditions
- Develop, manage and implement individualized treatment plans addressing neurological symptoms, cognitive and behavioral symptoms, and psychiatric conditions
- Oversee and collaborate with specialty services as needed
- Communicate and coordinate care with referring providers
- Participate in IOP rounds, Clinical Decision Team conferences, and Discharge Care Conferences
Clinical Administration & Program Support
- Lead crisis management and urgent medical evaluations
- Support the Behavioral Health team with management of trauma-informed care
- Build and sustain collaborative relationships with CU Anschutz campus, UCHealth, Avalon Action Alliance, and other partners
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical management programs, and accreditation standards
Education & Research
- Participate in educational programming, lectures, and training sessions within MIBH
- Support educational initiatives and ongoing clinical research

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Denver, Colorado area.
