Essential Job Functions
- Supervises and monitors children at all times; responds appropriately to crisis or emergency situations that may occur
- Uses a curriculum framework and curriculum tools that provide opportunities for each child to meet learning expectations that prepare children for success in school
- Develops and implements age-appropriate lesson plans and curriculum
- Establishes a daily routine that included time for small and large group activities, encourages creative expression, and incorporates health and nutrition development, as part of a daily activities
- Creates a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
- Assesses student progress and modifying instruction to meet individual needs
- Collaborates with other teaches, staff members, and families to support student learning and well-being
- Maintains accurate records of student's attendance, progress, and behavior
- Fosters positive relationship with students, families, and the community
- Models appropriate and respectful behavior to the children and fellow staff
- Supports children's social and emotional development through positive child guidance approaches and the development of positive relationships in the classroom.
- Has parent conferences with each child's parent(s) to partner in learning goals, develops coordinated learning support strategies, and involves the parent(s) in the child's preschool experience
- Establishes and maintains confidential, accurate and timely information on each child's development and program participation
- Incorporates parenting training and parent leadership in program activities
- Provides helpful feedback to parents and guardians on a regular or as-needed basis
- Uses video communication systems and classroom video recordings for inter-site communication, professional development
- Participates in annual program self-assessment and use information in ongoing program improvement
- Other related duties, as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related discipline. Bachelor Preferred
Minimum Experience
Three (3) years’ experience as a childcare/daycare teacher
Licenses/Certifications
Eligible for Child Development Director Permit
First Aid/CPR (may be obtained after employment)
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of theories, practices, and current trends in the field of Early Childhood Education
- Knowledge of Early Childhood Education State and National Standards
- Knowledge of Mississippi Regulations Governing Licensing for Child Care Facilities
- Knowledge of social, emotional, and creative needs of young children
- Emotional maturity
- Creativity and innovation
- Flexibility in receiving assignments and adapting to program changes
- Demonstration of patience, compassion, attitude, and disposition toward working with children and their families
- Passion for the care, safety, and development of children
