Leadership in Organizations, (Adjunct Pool), Henry E. Riggs School of Applied Life Sciences
The primary responsibility of the Adjunct Faculty member is teaching. We are seeking adjunct instructors to teach the following course at Keck Graduate Institute (KGI): BUS 6410 Leadership in Organizations (Fall semester, two sections, 1.5 credits each)
Course Description: Leadership is one of the most researched management phenomena and perhaps the most vigorously sought ability in a business context. This course focuses on the large body of findings and practical frameworks in leadership at multiple levels in an organization. Rather than recommending the 'one best way' to lead others, this course aims to facilitate students' understanding of the pros and cons of different styles and methods of leadership. This course will also highlight how leadership can help teams/groups function at a high-level by motivating followers to be effective organizational citizens.
The successful candidate must share in the mission of KGI and the Riggs School of Applied Life Sciences Programs. The Adjunct Faculty member reports directly to the Dean and works collaboratively with the Program Directors and other faculty. Located in beautiful Claremont, California, Keck Graduate Institute is a member of the prestigious Claremont Colleges, a consortium of five undergraduate liberal arts colleges, two graduate institutions, and The Claremont Colleges Services, which provide shared institutional support services.
Education and Experience: Minimum of a Master's degree in a related field. A doctoral degree is strongly preferred. Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience. Prior experience in teaching for active learning preferred. Experience with the Canvas learning management system is a plus.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Provides high-quality student instruction; Evaluates student performance (e.g., written assignments, examinations, in-class activities); Provides remedial instruction as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team and collaboratively with other departments. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing; possess the ability to listen to all points of view, build consensus, and inform others of policies and decisions. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
