Description
The Department of Outdoor and Environmental Studies at Simpson University invites applications for an adjunct instructor for Rock Climbing beginning August 15, 2024. The successful candidate should be prepared to teach an introductory rock climbing course which fulfills the Adventure Recreation requirement as part of our Ascent general education curriculum
Qualifications:
- AMGA or similar certification.
- Demonstrated ability to teach the basic skills of rock climbing.
- Evidence of ability to maintain industry standards in safety for bouldering and top rope climbing.
- Experience working with a diverse student population.
- Promising research agenda that supports undergraduate education is desirable.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach an introductory rock climbing course.
- Maintain a safe climbing environment at the Simpson rock wall and other climbing locations when utilized for the course.
- Communicate clearly with students regarding class expectations and logistics.
- Ensure the timely completion of assessments, grades, and other reports.

- Supervises employees in accordance with Simpson University policies and procedures
- Support the overflow needs of other departments within the respective university area
- Perform other duties in accordance with this position as deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor
