ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY  

The University of Notre Dame Australia is a private Catholic University with over 1,000 permanent staff providing an exceptional educational experience to over 12,000 students across our Fremantle, Broome, and Sydney campuses, as well as clinical schools in Victoria and New South Wales. 

ABOUT THE ROLE / SCHOOL  

The School seeks expressions of interest from registered medical practitioners and professionals in related fields who have a passion for teaching. Teaching opportunities are available in the Preclinical or Clinical Years of the Medical program.  

These include; Problem-Based Learning (PBL) tutoring in Preclinical years; Clinical Debriefing (CD) tutoring in Preclinical and Clinical years, Clinical Skills tutoring and Research Training Pathway tutoring. 

POSITION  

  • Conduct teaching/tutorials/workshops/lectures to the standard of the Faculty. This may include preparation for the topic and facilitating group discussions relating to the content
  • Consultation with students in relation to learning and assessment
  • Participating in assessment activities, including marking and providing feedback
  • Attendance at meetings as required by the Course Coordinator
  • Other duties as identified by the line manager
  • Comply with policies and procedures in all aspects of their work and conduct, in particular the Staff Code of Conduct
  • Undertake Professional Development as arranged by the School

 

ABOUT YOU  

  • Hold a College Fellowship, a trainee position in a Fellowship Program or a PhD in a relevant area.

Clinical Skills 

A medical degree registrable with the Medical Board of Australia, plus at least one of the following: 

  • A College Fellowship or progress towards (e.g. FRACP, FRACGP, etc) and/or PhD in a field aligned with the research and teaching activities of the School)

Clinical Debriefing 

Hold a College Fellowship, a trainee position in a Fellowship Program or a PhD in a relevant area. 

Research Tutors 

 A PhD in a STEM discipline. 

  • Experience in collaborative-based learning environments
  • Skilled at facilitating small groups, discussions and evoking thoughts and questions from others
  • A high level of interest in medical education and experience in teaching in a health context
  • A keen interest in maintaining currency in scholarship and professional practice in the relevant discipline
  • Ability to, or a willingness to learn how to, incorporate technology into teaching and learning (e.g. Blackboard, zoom, email, internet)
  • Ability to deliver quality learning and teaching practices in multiple modes including online delivery
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to work effectively in a team
  • Proven ability to assess priority of tasks, manage workload and meet deadlines, in a busy education environment
  • Evidence of a high level of pastoral care to students
  • Proven ability to work as an effective member of a team

Desirable 

  • Experience working within a university or teaching environment
