About the Department

IT Services is responsible for the provision of all IT-related services to the University. The department develops new IT solutions in collaboration with colleagues from across the University, whilst also ensuring the ongoing smooth operation of existing solutions.

About the TELT

Situated within IT Services, the TELT provides strategic oversight of technology enhanced learning at Queen Mary University of London and works to promote, support and develop technology enhanced learning across the institution. It is responsible for institution-wide learning applications such as (but not limited to) the online learning environment, QMplus (Moodle and Mahara), Turnitin to assist with similarity detection, Echo360 lecture capture, Kaltura media streaming, and MS Teams for online teaching.

About the Role

This role is to ensure that Queen Mary staff and students are supported in making the most effective use of technologies for learning, teaching and assessment. The postholder will provide both educational and technical support. They will take an active role in the day-to-day operations of the TELT’s training and support function, whilst working closely with colleagues in schools and institutes to ensure that technology enhanced learning support provision is of consistently high quality and meets the needs of the institution. The postholder will provide advice on all centrally supported learning applications whilst maintaining particular expertise in a smaller number of applications for which they will be considered the Application Lead.

About You

The ideal candidate will be familiar with learning technologies and work well under pressure. You will have an excellent understanding of the digital learning landscape and experience providing support for learning technologies. You will have excellent communication skills and feel comfortable delivering presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences. We are looking for someone who is flexible as well as willing to trial new approaches to improve the TELT training and support processes. You should have excellent technical skills, such that you can pick up new technologies independently, be able to use your initiative as well manage your workload so that deadlines are met and quality is maintained.
